Hong Kong leader says coronavirus now spreading 'out of control'

The deadly coronavirus is spreading out of control in Hongkong with a 100 new cases confirmed the financial hub's leader said on Sunday as she tightened social distancing rules to tackle the sudden increase in the virus.

The finance hub was one of the first places to be struck by the coronavirus when it started from China.

But the city had impressive success in tackling the disease, all but ending local transmission in June.

However,in the last two weeks,cases have spiked once more and doctors fear the virus is spreading undetected in the densely packed people of 7.5 million people.

On Sunday 108 infections were recorded by health authorities, a daily high for the finance hub bringing the total cases to 1,886 cases.
